Amazon.com Product Description The Wayne 1/2 HP 115-volt transfer water pump can pump water out of flooded basements, tanks, or boats. It can also increase line pressure by up to 40 pounds or be used to water lawns and gardens, and can even be used to wash cars and sidewalks. It's made from durable cast iron steel. The included suction strainer keeps out extraneous material, and the 3/4-inch brass hose connections resist stripping while easily connecting to garden hoses. A top-threaded priming port is easily filled, and the ball bearings have lifetime lubrication. Wayne backs its pump with a one-year limited warranty.

Great product May 23, 2010 pen name I have used this product for several years by borrowing from a friend since I need it only several times annually. It does such a great job, I finally got embarrassed to continue to borrow and purchased one. I use it to transfer water and to drain the hottub quickly and to put antifreeze in the home furnace hot water heating system. Check out the reviews on the cheaper pumps first, and then purchase this one that works.
Great little pump!!! April 21, 2010 C R Bock (NE Ohio) I needed a pump to water a new lawn in my front yard, since the house pressure was too low to operate a sprinkler (no city water here...). I was going back and forth on the 1 hp portable sprinkler pump or the 1/2 hp portable utility pump. I ended up getting the 1/2 hp utility pump. I pulled the water from a 350 gallon tank with zero lift thru and pumped 75 foot hose to the sprinkler. This little guy was more than enough to work an oscillating sprinkler. I may try adding a splitter to see of it can work two sprinklers.
After seeing the performance from a tank I imagine this pump would work great to boost city water pressure.
I am very happy with the purchase!
Great pump April 15, 2010 DIYDOC I lost track of the Wayne pumps and tried a few umentionables. Finally tracked them down on Amazon. This is a great pump which I have used to move overflow waters from an an umentionable site for at least 25 years when the pump had aluminum castings. The only thing I replaced which were the brushes which should always be on hand. The pump runs continuously for 4 to 5 hours for 5 to 6 times a year and is flawless. ALWAYS rinse out the pump after use and it will run at least 5 years for a brush replacement as I use it. Total rebuilding is not as easy as you you might be led to think.

High pressure December 26, 2009 Richard J. Binder (Austin, Tx) I'm using this to boost the water pressure at my house for outside car/driveway/patio washing it really boosted the water pressure as promised. Also I use it to draw water out of a lake to supply water to a pressure washer to wash my boat, I used 3/4" intake pvc, now I have the cleanest boat on the lake!
Quite a labor saver and probably saves water when hosing down my driveway and pool patio.
Works just fine. November 11, 2009 J. Boyd (Kingsville, MD.) I purchased this pump to replace a similar pump made by Flotec. This pump does a very good job of emptying out the hot tub in a pretty quick fashion. It's fairly quiet, and seems to be very well made. My only gripe is the need to have to use a wrench to remove the plug for the priming chamber, whereas it was simply a wing-nut type of setup on the Flotec. All in all, it was a good buy for the money.
