| Customer Reviews: It works June 25, 2010 Larsen (Humboldt, SD, US) My little cabinet blaster actually does do what it says it will, remove rust and paint from small parts. Some things to remember,
right out of the box, tighten every nut and bolt on the machine, this greatly reduces sand mess.
Take a tube of silicone and seal every seam and every fastener that passes through the cabinet. Due a particular good job of sealing around the black frame that goes over the glass, it will greatly enhance your ability to see into the cabinet. Remove the plastic protection from the plexi glass sheet on the cabinet glass, directions don't tell you to and I didn't realize it was there at first.
The pleated filter clogs easily, then the cabinet becomes very difficult to see into, I replaced my filter with a simple piece of green scotchbrite pad, works wonders. Use a good powerful vaccume for dust removel. I wish the hole for vacumme connection included a nipple to connect a vaccume hose to, I had a heck of a time finding an adapter that would work.
I use mine with a 5HP 25gal tank air compressor, it does keep up but runs continualy when I'm using the blaster. You MUST use a filter in the line from your air compressor, moisture is what causes the gun to plug, it's not the cabinet blasters fault. I mounted a filter right to the fitting that the air line connects to on the cabinet. I use "black majic" blasting media, $7 for 50lbs at Tractor Supply, my gun has not clogged yet.
The cabinet uses compressed air to propel fine grit media, it is going to be messy, no getting around it, just keep a good shop vac handy and you'll be fine. I mounted mine on a stand with wheels and roll it out onto the driveway, no mess in the shop. It works great for small pieces that you can hold in your hand, pieces that are too large become cumbersome and seem to create more dust, making it difficult to see. If you use it for what it's intended for it is a good little machine, once you seal it up with silicone.
Poorly Made December 30, 2009 E. Baker 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
It is poorly made and I've had nothing but trouble with it. When I took it out of the box the cover was cracked. The light also didn't work.
disapointed August 8, 2007 Lawrence Jarosz (gurnee, il) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
The unit came in a box which could have been better packed. The door does not close tight so that the sand blows all over the floor. It worked for about 2 hours then the gun started not work except when pulling the trigger halfway. Which reduced the air flow. I still have to do three more items to sand, so I'm in the middle of fixing the gun and the cabinet. Next time I'll buy a more expenceive unit. You get what you pay for.
