Engine is Easy-to-Operate, Durable, and Efficient
The TG72K12 features a powerful, 14-horsepower, 420-cc, four-stroke, gas-powered OHV engine that is capable of producing 7,250 continuous watts and 8,250 maximum watts. Its easy-pull recoil and electric-start make for reliable startups every time.

The engine isn't just powerful, it's also quiet. Thanks to its oversized muffler, the TG72K12 portable generator produces sound at just 70 decibels during operation.

And with a 6.42-gallon fuel tank and efficient power delivery, the engine is capable of running a 50-percent load for up to 10-1/2 hours or a 100-percent load for 6 hours and 36 minutes.

The engine also features auto throttle control technology, which automatically speeds up the engine when power is needed. This helps increase the longevity of the engine and also increases fuel efficiency.

Alternator Technology Safely Delivers Electricity to Your Appliances
One of the most innovative features of the TG72K12 is its ETQ Clean Sine Alternator Technology that ensures low total harmonic distortion (THD). THD is a measure of the quality of the electricity produced by a generator, and THD above six percent can damage electronics and other components over time. With THD of less than five percent, the TG72K12 ensures high-quality, safe delivery of electricity from the generator to your electrical components.

With low THD, this generator is computer-friendly, meaning it's completely safe to use with laptops, printers, desktop computers, and more. The TG72K12 will give you peace of mind knowing that your computer hardware is completely safe from power surges and bad-quality electricity.

Up to 8,250 Watts Power Most of Your Household Items
The TG72K12 produces up to 8,250 watts of power to run most of your electrically powered household items. You can use the 120-volt, 20-amp GFCI-protected outlets to simultaneously power lamps, TVs, computers, fans, or other low-wattage appliances. Or you can power 240-volt appliances, such as your water heater, using the convenient 240-volt twist-lock outlet. Additionally, there's an included 120-volt, 30-amp RV connection for added versatility.

Heavy-Duty Steel Construction That's Built for Portability
Everything--from the engine's heavy-duty cast-iron sleeves to the durable one-inch rolled steel tubing surround--is built to last. And with semi-pneumatic foam wheels and a fold-down handle, the generator is easy to move and store. The generator weights 207 pounds and measures just 32.87 x 22.24 x 23.82 inches (LxWxH).

Outlets Feature Circuit-Breaker Protection
The generator offers several ways to connect your appliances or electrical equipment. There are two 120-volt outlets available for most of your everyday, low-wattage appliances, such as fans, TVs, computers, microwaves, and toasters. There's also a convenient, 240-volt twist-lock outlet for running single, higher-wattage appliances and electrical equipment, such as water heaters or central air conditioners. Finally, there's a 120-volt, 30-amp RV connection for even more usage options.

All of the outlets on the TG72K12 Portable Generator are circuit-breaker protected to eliminate the risk of power-surge damage, which can potentially ruin your appliances and electrical equipment.

The ETQ TG72K12 Portable Generator is backed by a one-year manufacturer's warranty.

The following battery types are compatible with this generator: Champion 94b1, JBS 12N9-4B-1, Motocross M2290B, Napa 740-1869, and Powersonic CB9-B.

3 out of 5 stars Not what I expected   June 27, 2010

I have had this generator over a week now and the first problem I had was the RV Connector didn't work. I tried to contact the seller and ask if I could wire it correctly and received no response so today I took it apart and the connector was upside down and not one of the wires were in the correct position. The one that was most disturbing is the hot was tied to the connector ground. Not one of the wires were connected to the proper place. So no big deal other then I could have received a nice 120v shock if the breaker didn't break which it did thank goodness. I haven't even tested the 220 connector yet. The 110 standard plugs work fine. Now for what I don't understand is I put three gallons of gas in the generator and have ran it one hour and it is almost totally out of gas? the maximum load I had on it was about 2kwh. But that was only for a few minutes about half the time the generator ran in the automatic idle mode which is real nice but blows the breaker if you turn on an air conditioner or anything close to 2kw so I have to go back outside and throw the breaker back into operate mode. I have to be honest I don't think this generator works near what it is rated for. The generator looks like it is well built. It has a 420cc motor that for a motorcycle would put out around 25 to 30 horsepower but the generator has 14 hp and I think that is generous. When you pull it by hand there is never any noticeable compression which I find common with a lot of newer small cheap gas motors. When working on the generator to swap out the wires there was one bolt that was stripped and several screws that were loose. Poor assembly. If you buy this generator I would do a fast check for loose screws because they will rattle off if you don't tighten them. And the last thing I wanted to mention is that this generator has an electric start which is great but it has a manual choke. I don't get it. So you can start the generator remotely if you have a long cable to move the choke on and off.
What is good about the generator is for the price it appears to be a good deal. It seems to run well and fairly cool for a generator. The electric start works well but you still have to manually move the choke. It has a fairly good size gas tank and hopefully it will perform better then what I have seen as far as gallons per hour.

5 out of 5 stars ETO TG72K12 Generator   June 26, 2010

This generator took about 20 min to setup (read the instructions, install the wheels and handle). After putting in the oil and gas, setting the choke it started on the third pull. I added the battery for the electric start which operates perfectly. I am very please with the units performance and have nothing negative to say about the unit.

I searched for a couple of weeks before deciding on the generator and I have no regrets about buying it. I have owned this generator since August 2009. I moved into a house with a generator panel already installed and no alternative source of heat (no chimney) and this was a no brainer. I have used this several times during outages and it starts the first pull every time. The voltage is rock solid and I have run our media center computer and 42 plasma, furnace, garage-door, microwave, kitchen fridge, and garage freezer with no problems. (All while the neighbors stumble around in the dark!) I even let the neigbors run some cords over for their freezers.
The noise level is acceptable/expected for this type of generator. I am going to build an enclosure for it this summer to reduce noise further.
Keep in mide if you want this generator to last you must:
Use fresh gas with a fuel stabilizer! Gas turns to varnish in 3 months!
Use the stabilized gas in 9-12 months or drain it out and replace it with fresh, stabilized gas!
Take this baby out and run it for 10 minutes at least once every two weeks!
Change the oil out after the first 10 hours of operation.
This will keep you starting the first time, every time.

5 out of 5 stars Nice generator   June 8, 2010

I bought this to keep around the house in case the power goes out. Like in a thunderstorm when I really need my sump pump. I also think I can use this to run my travel trailer. One thing to note is although this has ECO-THROTTLE it only throttles back when there is NO LOAD not LOW LOAD. At idle it is only going to put out about 35-45Hz and 80-90VAC instead of 60Hz/120VAC. It has a circuit to detect load and when it senses it it immediately jumps to full speed. I did not measure how much time it takes to go from idle to full speed when it detects a load but it seemed pretty quick considering the throttle/governor system is mechanical.

Even though I have not put it through it paces yet, the generator is well built. The battery was not hard to find when you have the right number. The type # in the instruction book is no good. I called Eastern Tools for the number at 888-908-6200. Availiable at Wal-Mart, number is ES12N94B1 for $30.00.
