5 out of 5 stars Great Tool!   September 12, 2009

Talk about POWER!!! This has it and features galore. The blade guard is easily adjustable to let you orient yourself to the work for the most effective toll use. Also the Roto-Lok feature allows you to twist the handle to give you the most comfortable grip in orientation to your work.

This thing is a beast! It is heavy if you are using it all day. I got this to grind paint off some 40 foot, ocean going, shipping containers. With this grinder I was able to do the same amount of work in 4 hours that two of us (with 4 1/2" grinders) took 8 hours to accomplish!

This is best applied for use on metal work (large and heavy), welding, and stone or masonry. This is not the best for use on wood. I have used this with Diamond wheels to grind stone and concrete. Granite doesn't stand a chance against this puppy! With an abrasive cut-off wheel it easily cuts through rebar and other metal.

The power in this machine is incredible! Just be smart about how you use it! I love the lock-on trigger! It really makes work so much easier! Make sure you use all safety precautions though!!!! I am a pretty strong 200 pound guy and the grinder will push me around easily if the wheel gets caught on the work. Keep this clearly in mind when using the lock-on trigger button! This thing will easily cut you like a circular saw if you don't pay attention to what you are doing or try something stupid!

I like the removable cord. This is already so large it makes storage in a tool box much easier. I was disappointed that the quick-lock cord doesn't have the same plug as the one for my Milwaukee Super Sawsall (the end that plugs into the tool).

If you do heavy grind this is the tool to get!

1 out of 5 stars Milwaukee failed miserably with this grinder design   August 16, 2009

I have owned and used Milwaukee tools for 30+ years. They have been well built and dependable and a standard by which I measured other tools till now.
In the first three hours of using this angle grinder the rotating handle latching system failed and I finished the last 8 hours of the job with the rear main handle spinning in my grip and or at the end stop of its 9 position rotation.
After six hours from out of the box a bad vibration started in the gear head and it would come and go for the remaining 4 hours I used the Grinder. The third issue that showed with use is the screwin front grip handle. I was using the top threaded hole for the handle and after a days worth of work the handle would not stay tight and the small threaded stud started to bend and worm out the threaded hole in the cast aluminum gear housing.
I would strongly "not" recommend purchasing this grinder model because of basic design failure. Fortunately Amazon gave a full refund and paid for return shipping with no fuss which is the upside of this experience.
