Product Description Top Handle Jigsaw With 6.5A, 4 Stage Orbital Action, 3 Way Blade Clamping System Firmly Grasps T-Shank Blades, Lever Activated Blade Change System With Ejector, Variable Speed Control Dial, Adjustable Dust Blower & Tool-Less Foot Adjustment.
Amazon.com When we first heard of barrel grip jig saws, we were pretty skeptical about the comfort and control they could offer, since we were so accustomed to the typical top-handle design. It really was a genuine surprise to feel the difference. The control is amazing, and cutting scrollwork is an absolute delight with this saw, something we can't honestly say about most top-handle models. With this design, it almost feels as if the cutter is an extension of your hand, smooth and responsive. The blade-change system on this Bosch is among the best we've seen: They weren't kidding when they named it the One Touch Blade Change. We like the speed range, from 500 all the way up to 2,800 strokes per minute to handle whatever you need to cut, and the cutting line actually stays clean because of the integrated, adjustable blower (which, we have to say, works better at higher speeds). With the barrel design, there's no trigger; instead, the speed is controlled by a dial on the rear of the tool body. It's a tad clumsy at first when you're used to trigger-controlled speed, but it's a learning curve, and it's worth it.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste

heats up July 30, 2008 Ray D. Berringer Sawing for a short period of time is very acceptable but with prolonged use (over an half hour) the motor heats up so hot that you can barely hold onto the saw. A cool down period of up to 20 min is adequate for another 10 or minutes use, then the heating up begins again. Never had this trouble with any other jig saw but might have to do with the fact that you are holding this saw by the motor, not some accessory handle. Like the blade changing, best I have used but the heat is not acceptable.
You've gotta have one of these! June 16, 2008 W. Arnold (Thomasville, GA USA) This is the best jig saw on the market, considering price/value. I researched many brands and kept returning to Bosch because of the reputation of the brand. The barrel grip configuration is very comfortable to use; it gives me better control over cuts, especially when scrolling. The adjustments on the saw give you the capability to vary the cut from very fine to very aggressive; blade control is excellent. I'm a woodworker, so I purchased Bosch T30W 30pc Woodworking Jigsaw Set when I ordered this jig saw.
Bosch 1591EVSK is the finest. May 20, 2008 H. Flynt (Knoxville, TN) I am a woodworker and this 1591 is the finest jig saw that i have ever used. It is powerful and it is accurate. The blade guides are very similar to what you would find on a band saw making it possible to split a pencil line and have a true 90 degree cut. With the correct blade, I believe you can cut just about anything in any shape that you want to. I chose the 1591 over the 1590 because I find the barrel grip suites me better for the majority of my tasks.
Worth Every Penny. Don't settle for the D-handle April 29, 2008 Smaug (Round Lake Beach, IL United States) I came to this jigsaw from an older B&D Professional. That was not a bad saw, but the lateral blade support was not in the same caliber as this one's. The smoothness is also unrivalled, as is the blade change mechanism. I never realized how sweet the electronic speed control would be until I'd used it. One simply sets the right speed, switches the saw on, and goes to work. It simply doesn't slow down under load due to the beefy 6.4 A motor. The only time I'd recommend against the barrel grip version is if you do a lot of vertical cutting. In that position, this saw is harder to hold onto, because the motor is so big in diameter. When working flat, it is not na issue. The dust blower works great too; no more huffing and puffing trying to keep the cut line clear. The cord is a high grade rubber one that doesn't get all stiff when it is cold. This may just be my last jigsaw. (and I'm only 31)
Surprised how good it is... April 27, 2008 Redfisher 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I needed more horsepower in a jigsaw than the small Makita I have had for years. I was really questioning the barrel grip, but because of the good ratings, I ordered this one over the the one with the standard handle. When it came out of the box, it felt too heavy/ackward in my hand, and I was afraid I had made a mistake. But as soon as I tried it out, I was extremely impressed. It felt good in my hand (I have small hands). The control was excellent, and I like the blower that blows the dust out of the way, although you may want to sometimes wear goggles. The quality of control and cut is excellent. I know it is a lot of $$, but if you do much jig sawing or need high quality cuts, it is worth it.
