Amazon.com Whether you are a car collector, weekend enthusiast or a professional detailer, Matita's 9227C circular polishers will give you the control needed to restore and keep your high-gloss finish. It will help you protect your investment by reducing the time it takes to apply cleaners, polishes, and protective products, and it will produce results far superior to applying these products by hand. This polisher is powerful enough to polish out scratches, swirls, and oxidation in the clear coat to restore the finish of your vehicle. Unlike a dual-action polisher which automatically walks across the surface, this circular polisher allows you to control the movement and focus on tough imperfections. It has an adjustable, variable speed dial to set rpm from 600 to 3000 for super slow buffing to aggressive polishing. The lock-on button allows you to use the Makita continuously at one speed. The electronic speed control maintains constant speed under load. The tool is ergonomically designed with multiple handle positions for better pressure control and less fatigue. Providing comfortable, relaxed grip options allows you to keep the polisher gliding in an easy, slow controlled sweep over the surface. It comes with a storage bag, compound and polishing pads to get you started. It is also convertible to a sander for paint removal or for your wood projects with additional Makita accessories. -- Sue Gregori Whats in the Box 9227C Polisher/Sander, Hook & Loop Pad, Hex Wrench, 21-inch tool bag, 7-inch Wool compound pad, 7-inch polishing pad

Excellent product - however... August 8, 2008 Samuel R. Hoskins I needed this Sander/Polisher for both sanding and polishing (Imagine that). The unit itself is excellent and I love the fact that I can dial it down to 600 RPM. It is really a high quality unit and I'm sure it will outlive me. Despite being advertised as a "Sander/Buffer" the kit does not have any sanding accessories and the sanding pad is difficult to locate on the web. I opted to purchase the additional pad that lists at the same time as the machine, but it just turns out to be another buffer pad, which is already included with the kit. So, after it was all said and done I had to place an additional order to get the sanding pad. Other than all that, I love the unit itself.
Versatile low speed rotary tool August 6, 2008 tangent (Houston, TX United States) Everything about this product screams quality, the pads, the bag and of course the unit itself are all very well constructed and designed. It has the same 5/8" thread size as most angle grinders so you can use it with any of the wide variety of attachments made to fit angle grinders, just get some locking nuts from any grinder. It actually makes many of those attachments much more useful than they are on a standard angle grinder due to its lower speeds and the greater control offered by the loop style handle. Attach a fine wire brush wheel to easily make brushed metal, or use a spiral sewn cloth wheel with some polishing compound to bring metals to a mirror finish. Use it with a diamond disc for easily slicing through metal or wood. With a set of diamond polishing pads you can polish granite, marble and other natural stones to a high lustre. Attach ordinary microfiber towels or sponges to the hook and loop pad and you can buff or clean just about anything. I have even used it with grinding wheels meant for a bench grinder to sharpen my knives and garden tools. Of course it is also a great sander and famed in the auto detailing industry as one of the top (if not the best) circular car polishers on the market. What sets this tool apart from the pack is the fact that it can handle heavy torque loads without slowing down, even at low rpm. I have tried other similar tools (circular polishers and VS angle grinders capable of low speeds) which had no problems handling torque at higher speeds but could not handle much at low rpm without slowing down or wavering. That functionality is crucial to many delicate polishing and grinding applications where you need an even cut without removing too much material. This thing is very comfortable to use, runs smooth and quiet, does not overheat, and it can stand up to a heck of a lot of abuse. What more could you ask for?
Bottom line, the best wheel you can buy May 27, 2008 Edward T. Geha (Saint Clair Shores, MI USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have been cleaning boats for a long time, and have worked with a lot of different products. This is by far the best buffing wheel out there. The speed control is seperate from the trigger (it's not controlled by how hard you pull it). That makes things way easier. It does great work, it's very comfortable and easy to use. I have actually dropped one in the water; it cut out and then worked the next day. Better than the Milwaukee, Dewalt, Craftsman, or any other one for that matter.
Excellent Polisher May 1, 2008 W. Mohrman (Midwest) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I struggled with trying to buff out a 23 year old boat. After struggling with a hugely heavy old 1750 rpm polisher, I gave up and ordered the Makita. Wow, this almost made the job easy!! I cannot say enough good about this product. It is the high quality standards I have come to expect from Makita. It is light at 6 lbs and is very easy to use. The trigger and ergonomic handle make it easy on the hands. While the kit does not come with the foam pad as the picture would indicate, the wool pads (2) are of high quality.
Just what the doctor ordered February 29, 2008 Jerry Learn (Pennsylvania Furnace, PA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this buffer to buff out and polish a natural penetrating oil finish that I applied to a white oak floor I installed in my son's bedroom. The Makita buffer is very powerful and smooth-operating. I learned not to use the trigger lock, because if this tool gets away from you (and it has the power to, if you get too close to an interfering object), you really want it to stop on its own and not go through the wall. This didn't happen to me (really), but it could have. I had to choose between the Dewalt and this one. I'm sure the Dewalt is a great tool also, but I have no regrets from buying the Makita.
