Amazon.com Product Description
For years, tool manufacturers have been striving to produce cordless tools that are powerful enough to compete head-to-head with traditional corded tools. Here's one case where they've succeeded: The Milwaukee 0779-22 V28 impact wrench is powered by a high-tech 28-volt lithium-ion battery that delivers an astonishing 3,900 in./lbs. of torque. Its high-performance, variable-speed motor operates at 1,450 rpm and produces 2,450 blows per minute of percussive force to crack free even the most rusted, frozen nuts. The industrial-quality magnesium motor housing adds durability without dramatically increasing the weight. Even so, this tool weighs in at a beefy 9 pounds.

The 0779-22 is the most powerful cordless impact wrench on the market, and it'll handle many jobs that are typically reserved for corded or pneumatic drivers, including removing lug nuts from car, SUV and truck tires. This versatile tool can also be used to drive large lag screws and bore deep holes into wood. A steel ring is provided for attachment to the top of the tool. Use it to conveniently raise or lower the tool with a rope when working from a ladder, roof or other elevated position.

The wrench is a little over 12 inches long, but Milwaukee cleverly fitted this tool with reversible batteries that slide on from either the front or rear. When the battery is mounted on the front, the tool is a bit shorter. Sliding it on from the rear moves the battery back, allowing the wrench to reach into tighter spaces. Note that you must use heavy-duty impact sockets with this cordless wrench. Standard sockets aren't recommended because they could shatter during use.Joseph Truini

What's in the Box:
Milwaukee 0779-22 1/2-inch impact wrench, two 28-volt lithium-ion batteries, a one-hour charger, hanger bracket, quick-change detent kit, carrying case, owner's manual

5 out of 5 stars One of the best tools on the farm   October 25, 2008
Ender (Hooper, Co United States)
I've had this tool for about 18 months ago. It has performed above expectations. On one battery it will remove 8 1/2 wheel lug bolts 4 5/8 gear box bolts and replace all on a center pivot sprinkler tower . Some of the towers we have worked on have been running in water for over 15 years without a bolt being turned(it would be the equivalent of changing four tires on a 3/4 ton pickup). It is a substantial tool but the weight packing it to the job is more than made up by the effort it saves at the job site. For quick jobs it is easier than dragging hoses and a air impact gun. It won't replace a good 1/2 drive air impact gun but it is a great addition to any tool box

4 out of 5 stars BIG UNIT ,WITH GOOD POWER   August 23, 2008
leestir2001 (Northern ,VA)
Bought this impact wrench a few days ago and all I can say is its
very well made , but its a little too big and bulky to be used in
confind spaces but its great for lug nuts and old rusty bolts
that you can get to . The batteries on these units are by far the
best I have seen. long lasting and quick recharge time, and Its
hard to beat the 5 yr warrenty .

2 out of 5 stars MILWAUKEE LIED OVER RATED BUT WORKS DECENT   May 23, 2007

OK THIS TOOL IS HIGHLY OVER RATED. IT COULDN'T TAKE OUT MY HONDA CRANK PULLY BOLT TORQUED FROM THE FACTORY. IT'S TORQUED TO ABOUT 150 FT/LB. SO YOU GET THE IDEA. THIS TOOL IS HEAVY AND HUGE. MILWAUKEE IS STUPID FOR RATING IT THAT HIGH. IT DOES TAKE OF ABOUT 75 FT/LB STRUGGLES A BIT. THIS TOOL IS NOT FOR AUTOMOTIVE USE. MIGHT BE ABLE TO BUST THE TIRE LUG NUTS FOR CARS. TRUCKS, BIGRIGS ETC YEA RIGHT! SAVE YOUR MONEY AND INVEST IN SOMETHING THAT IS RATED PROPERLY. I HIGHLY DOUDT THIG CAN TAKE OFF ANYTHING OVER 100 FT/LB. VERY HEAVY, HIGHLY OVERATED, BUT IT WORKS FOR SOME JOBS. NOT STRONG ENOUGH LIKE MILWAUKEE RATING...

5 out of 5 stars Milwaukee Impact Wrench   January 9, 2007

Great tool from an outstanding manufacturer! This 28 volt impact has the torque to break loose head bolts and lug nuts used in heavier trucks and SUVs on the road today. Mine is used in fleet service on delivery vehicles that require service remote from the central shop area.

Tire changes on to 1 ton trucks are routine and require battery charges only at the end of most shifts. The tool has also been used regularly to drive lag bolts and concrete anchors in assorted construction projects. This device is heavier than needed for lighter applications but for brute force it can't be beat on the heavy jobs.

The tools advantages are portability, power and consistent performance combined with a 5 year warranty!!!

I just got the 0779-22 unit. I bought this unit after comparing it to the Dewalt 18v wrench. (Dewalt is coming out with a 36v, 325ft-lb wrench.) The biggest selling point was the variable speed capability of the Milwaukee. I have used this for a weekend of racing. Performed a few tire swaps and service on the trailer with ease, approx 60 cycles of lug nuts at 87ft-lbs., 50% batt usage. Use of a torque stick makes tightening a breeze.

It took me a few cycles to get used to the action....it can't quite compete with my IR231 pneumatic wrench, but I am very impressed non the less.

The 0779-22 kit is a capable tool and I for one, am very satisfied.
