Amazon.com Review Stubborn lug nuts, beefy bolts, lag screws and hex-head bolts require a lot more force than your average ratchet wrench offers. And even one try with an open-end wrench will send you searching for a better way to tighten large fasteners like these. Smaller than a standard driver but meaner than a junkyard dog, Bosch's 18-volt impact wrench is great for driving concrete anchors, framing, deck building, and automotive work. The wrench features an innovative hammer-and-anvil system that delivers 1,950 inch-pounds of torque, offering 30 percent more power than standard impact drivers. A soft-grip handle absorbs impact and reduces fatigue for extended jobs. A high-performance motor with all-metal gears spins the chuck at up to 2,800 rpm's and offers 3,200 blows-per-minute to bust loose rusted lug nuts or fretted bolts. Weighing in at just 4-1/2 pounds and measuring just 6-1/2 inches in length, this tool gets in and around tight quarters such as floor joists, attic rafters, and low decks. Externally accessible brushes mean easy brush replacement. A multi-purpose reversible tool hook is great for both left- and right-hand use. Multiple-position swivel LED lighting illuminates the work for easy driving in low light like attics and basements and under decks. And, an aluminum gear housing with protective rubber front makes this tool is jobsite tough. The tool is backed by a one-year guarantee. Not enough can be said about Bosch's Bluecore charging system, which offers 50 percent longer battery life than previous Bosch batteries. The batteries are equipped with internal cooling rods that disperse heat evenly for a more efficient charge. The charger charges all Bluecore batteries and previous generation Bosch batteries in half the time it use to take, now just 30 minutes! The battery is also equipped with a sensor that works with the charger to maintain thermal control, as well as an easy-to-read display with a multi-stage LED indicator that updates the charge status. The system is also compatible with all current 12- to 24-volt Bosch power tools, so you won't have to purchase new tools or a new charger if you already have either. The charging system is backed by a two-year manufacturer guarantee. --Brian D. Olson What's in the Box Two 2-amp-hour batteries, 30-minute charger, tool hook, double-ended bit, carrying case, gear box cover.

Very nice tool. February 1, 2008 D. Johnson (Central Kansas) I bought this wrench for removing lugnuts to rotate tires on our own vehicles. I torque the lugnuts between 90-110 ft/lbs as directed by the manufacturer. The wrench has no problem removing the nuts or running them up snug when reinstalling the wheels prior to using the torque wrench. The wrench is rated at 165 ft/lbs of torque. If the nuts were put on too tight, which often happens if not torqued, this wrench will probably have some problem breaking them loose. The Bosch 21618 might be a better choice if you think you may want to overcome overtightening situations as it is rated at 350 ft/lbs of torque. I chose this wrench because it weighs only 4.5 lbs and is very small. It slips into places and goes with me to jobs I have never considered or would have the opportunity of using a pneumatic impact wrench. The variable speed is very nice and not available on most other brands. The full speed RPM is just right as well. Fast enough but not so fast as to sling nuts across the shop if you do not catch them. Battery life has been much more than I expected, though this should not surprise me as one of the main reasons I looked at this brand first was that I already owned other Bosch tools that share this same battery. The only down side is we will likely wind up owning both this 22618 and the 21618 if it goes on a deep discount sale.
Ask me in a couple more months. February 2, 2007 M. Cunningham (Mount Laurel--New Jersey) So far I think the tool is working as I expected. It's hard to believe a tool that small puts out that much power. I don't work it as hard as my corded impact gun. It gets hot if you work it hard. I back off when it gets hot. Its to expensive a tool to work it to hard when I have a corded impact. We started using these cordless to avoid running generators. Some of our employees have inverters in trucks to recharge cordless. Its too early to see how it will hold up. There should be a follow up at a later date. So far I am alot happier with Bosch tools compared to DeWalt. I don't buy cheap tools or Asian lookalikes--they are not worth it and just waste your time and money in the long run. So far so good.
