Amazon.com Product Description
The Milwaukee 1-1/2-Inch SDS-max Rotary Hammer delivers outstanding drilling performance in a lightweight package. The design of the rotary hammer features Milwaukee's vibration isolation system that greatly reduces operator fatigue by absorbing the hammering action with floating handles. A soft-shift stop rotation knob permits the operator to smoothly change from hammer/rotation mode to the hammer-only mode. The included 11 Amp motor combined with an electronic feedback control circuit allows the 6-inch thin-wall Core Bit to be driven through 5000-PSI concrete without bogging down. There's also an on/off switch coupled with a speed dial so that the speed and blow energy can be correctly matched to the application or accessory. The bit locking system features one-handed click-in bit insertion.

Other features include a Quik-Lok cord that allows for fast twist-off/twist-on cord replacement, and an included pre-set clutch protects against sudden motor overloads. There's also a convenient service reminder light that indicates when the carbon brushes will soon need to be replaced. This versatile tool can be used for drilling up to 1-1/2-inch holes in concrete with SDS-max Bits, larger holes in concrete with Core Bits or the compatible LHS spline drive system, or used for general chipping, chiseling, and demolition.

What's in the Box
1-1/2-Inch SDS-max Rotary Hammer, depth gauge, side handle, carrying case, and a 5-piece bit set.

5 out of 5 stars 5 stars, so far...   November 9, 2006

We just put in a paver driveway and had a couple of pavers crack during the plate packing process. Obviously, they are not easily extracted once sand-set. I pulled out the new Milwaukee and with the chisel point made short work of the misguided paver blocks. Cut through like butter and just removed the pieces...

Only thing I have any reservations about is the "Service" disable feature that can immobilize the drill until reset at the repair center. Sounds like it's going to cost me money... What probably is deemed by Milwaukee as a safety feature so "you don't ruin the drill," has overtones of Hewlett-Packard's ink cartridge expiration dates, so "you don't ruin the print heads"... Bottom line, although my "best interest" is being looked after, the responsibility shift is ultimately going to result in a wallet extraction...

5 out of 5 stars bosch -vs-milwaukee   August 14, 2003

I could find no reviews on the miwaukee 1-1/2 #5315 roto hammer
so I was at a face off beteen the bosch 11241evs and 5315 milwaukee. Everyone in the business knows that bosch has made the industry standard in rotory hammers for years, but Milwaukee
has recently released this line of rotary hammers in attempt to
catch bosch.

I have used the 11241evs as a rental on a few ocasions and it is awesome. I took the chance on the milwaukee because of a five
year history of using their tools with extreme satisfaction.

Heres the scoop: I was doing an earthqauke retro fit and drilling 3/4 by 12 inch deep holes, I drilled over 50 holes in 60 year old concrete, I was very impressed that after drilling
10 consecutive holes the tool was barely warm! The effort on my
part was non existent, vibration was not at all aparent, I was simply holding the tool in place. I was really blown away at the absolute lack of effort the tool drilled these holes with.

The bosch also performs similar but seems to require a bit more effort, the milwaukee has more than an entire foot pound more of blow energy. The weight and balance of the milwaukee vs bosch
are very similar.

I absolutely love the quick lock cord on the milwaukee as storage is super easy and the replacement of the cord will never be an issue.

In hammer only mode with a bull point chisel I broke up a 4 inch thick concret slab, it hammers thru brick and block with absolute ease.

I spent $... dollars on an 1-9/16 x 21- four cutter hammer bit just to see how this tool could handle itself at max capacity, again I was blown away it drilled down 17 inches in seconds like it was going thru mud, no effort on my part no vibration no heat on the tool afterward. I would say this tool is good for all day drilling of up to one inch holes.

Downside, the power and service lights are barely visible unless your in a dark room.

I highly recomend this tool, I have milwaukee tools from five years ago that have operated for thousands of hours and are still going like new, spend the money you'll be thrilled.
