Product Description 7.5A, VS, Heavy Duty, 1" L-Shape SDS Rotary Hammer Drill With 2.33' Per LBS Of Impact Energy, Only 11.5" In Length, This Hammer Is The Most Compact In The Market Dust Extraction, Chipping Mode, Hammer Only & Rotation Only Mode, Wood/Metal Drilling, All Featured, Clutch To Reduce High Torque Reactions.
Amazon.com If you have to get into concrete or masonry, you have to get this tool into your arsenal. Chip out in hammer-only mode; drill into wood or metal with the rotation mode; drill and drive into concrete and masonry with the hammer drill mode--the 7.5 amp motor never even flinches. It's packing 2.3 foot-pounds of impact energy, yet it's impressively lightweight and easy on the body. We think that's partly due to its surprisingly compact size and streamlined L-shape design; the tool feels incredibly balanced, and as a result, we felt superb control. Its smaller size would be great in tight places like a basement crawlspace. We like that there's a dust extraction connection, though we don't know how often we'd actually use it. Maintenance gets a hand from DeWalt's smart pop-off brush system, helping you extend the life of this hardworking tool.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste

works great January 13, 2007 Todd I. Petersen I bought this roto hammer for an earthquake retrofit. 5/8" holes were not a problem. Its light weight and adjustable handle made things easier in tight crawl spaces. I do wish that the chuck for the drill was easier to get though.
BUYER BEWARE April 18, 2006 Sunny Austin (Austin, Tx) 3 out of 24 found this review helpful
SDS bits are for chiseling and masonry and require and SDS chuck (bit holder). Regular wood or metal drilling bits use a standard chuck. The description says you can easily select between hammering, chiseling, or drill only mode but the standard drilling chuck is not included with this drill. I confirmed with Dewalt that this model only comes with the SDS chuck, so you will not be able to use wood or metal bits without a separate adapter.
