Amazon.com Our first reaction upon opening the box: It's smaller and lighter than we expected, so does it pack enough power? With three modes to choose from, the answer is yes, yes and yes. In rotation (drill) mode, it's more than enough drill for whatever you're going into, whether wood or metal. Just pop on the Quick Change 3-Jaw keyless chuck and you're ready. Hammer-drill mode will drill into masonry like nobody's business, with a range of 0 to 4,200 blows per minute, 2.3 foot-pounds of impact and a load speed of up to 800 rpm that gets the job done fast. Set it to hammer only and make history out of tile, mortar splatter and whatever else needs to go. The neatly designed removable chuck is a nice feature that saves time and trouble when switching frequently between modes. Since there's no sacrifice in the power department, we salute DeWalt for its engineering in packing so much power into such a compact, lightweight machine. This is all the drill you'll need.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste

Horrible Drill July 31, 2006 D. Recchia 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is the worst drill I have ever owned, been Framing / Contracting for a very long time, 10+ years, and this is the worst drill ive ever seen. Works fine in SDS mode, but when you change the chuck to drill "normal" wood and holes, this drill just has no power. The changeable chuck slips constantly and cannot use medium to large bits, the drill stalls out and you hear the slipping sound. Been into local dewalt repair shop twice, and they cant do a thing with it. DO NOT BUY
