Amazon.com Review Bosch's 1617EVSPK is a strong entry in the 2-1/4-horsepower combination router market. Solid construction makes the Bosch durable and lightweight, while special touches, such as wooden handles on the fixed base and contoured, soft-grip handles on the plunge base, add to the comfort of users and give the tool a look of distinction lacking in some of its competitors. Of course, looks are only skin deep, and this router has plenty to offer below the surface as well. At its heart, a powerful 12 amp, 2-1/4-horsepower motor delivers consistent results at variable speeds of 8,000 to 25,000 rpm. The exclusive precision centering design ensures bits are perfectly centered in the router base, a handy feature for maintaining accurate cut lines. A wider-than-average base opening provides superior visibility and allows the Bosch to accept larger bits, while a micro bit-depth adjustment system makes fine-tuning fast and easy. Unlike many comparable routers, the Bosch 1617EVSPK is designed to move from base to base without the use of tools. Instead, it clamps solidly into place for quick and easy transfers. What's more, the motor never rotates while adjusting depths, allowing you to stow the power cord on either side where it's out of the way. --Carl Thress

Great router July 6, 2008 Duster (West) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a great router package that is suitable for hand use and in a table. As with most people, I've gotten the most use out of the fixed base. PROS: Easy to use; accurate; depth adjustment on the fixed base is simple and repeatable; quite, smooth operation. CONS: Depth adjustment on the plunge base is a little goofy--but that's it. This is a great router that I highly recommend. As with all router packages, give some thought as to whether you really need the plunge option.
Great router when it works June 9, 2008 RJR (Lake Ozark, MISSOURI USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this router in Dec 2004. In Jan of Feb of 2005 I had to send it into Bosch because the on off switch only worked sporadically. It worked fine for about a year and I had to send it in again for the same problem. Both times it was fixed under warranty but I still had to pay to ship it to them. Well its broken again same problem it has been acting up since February and has finally quit altogether. Fortunately I have a 20yr old Black and Decker that I paid less that $50.00 for as a spare. It is not nearly as fancy but when I press the start switch it works. I will be looking for a new router but it won't be a Bosch. The one I have now is a $225.00 paper weight.
Router June 7, 2008 Martin W. Decere (Easton, MD USA) The dust collector plastic window was broken in half when received out of the box. There should be a mechanism for getting this small part without sending the entire package back. The router package itself was excellent, and I am using both the plunge router and fixed base for many projects. Thankyou, Martin Decere (madecere@aol.com)
NIce Router Nice Price April 30, 2008 JH 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Very happy with this router works beautifully. Only comment is the way the case is designed it has already marred the wooden handles. No big deal just a shame.
awsome router April 28, 2008 R. Altaras (Ashland, OR) So far,I've only used the plunge router (to make a router table) and it's done everything I've asked, routing perfect mortises, over and over. Plenty of power to do inch and a half deep mortises in three passes.
