Sharp Tools Perform Better and are Safer to Use
A dull drill bit means jobs take longer, and it can result in lower-quality work, damaged work materials, and shortened drill life. But unlike the relatively straightforward task of sharpening flat blades, sharpening drill bits by hand is a difficult and cumbersome task. This is what makes the intuitive, easy-to-use Drill Doctor sharpener so useful.

Two Easy Steps Ensure Bits are Sharp and Effective
Just as easy to use as the heavy-duty Drill Doctor 500X and 750X models, the 350X offers on-chuck alignment. This eliminates the need for an alignment port and simplifies the sharpening process, making the 350X a perfect choice for home workshops.

You simply secure the bit and turn the chuck an even number of half turns to achieve a perfect 118-degree angle. As you sharpen, the tool's V-block jaws hold the bit precisely in place and ensure that you don't have to worry about jaw twisting, even when working with small bits. This secure alignment system ensures that you maintain accurate bit geometry and don't damage the integrity of your tools.

Engineered for Versatility in Handling Popular Bits
The same chuck can be used to sharpen popular bit sizes ranging from 3/32- to 1/2-inch. The Drill Doctor 350X works with a wide variety of bit types used in wood and light metal work, including high-speed steel, carbide, masonry, and TiN-coated bits.

And with a low, ergonomic profile design, the 350X is comfortable to work with. Its excellent stability means that it won't "walk" away from you, even when you're working with large, tough-to-sharpen bits.

Professional Design and Construction for Durability
The Drill Doctor uses an industrial-strength diamond sharpening wheel that won't change shape over time, and a cool design that means bits don't heat up and lose their tempering as you sharpen them. This wheel can be easily replaced, so you don't incur any maintenance fees. And with each wheel good for about 200 sharpenings, you'll appreciate how infrequently you'll need to replace it.

Behind the smooth operation of this wheel is a permanent magnet motor, which produces consistent power regardless of speed or load, and helps you achieve sharp bits that are easy to work with.

The Drill Doctor 350X is backed by a three-year manufacturerAes warranty.

5 out of 5 stars Should have bought it years ago   December 5, 2008
Geoffrey F. Beneze (Tempe, AZ USA)
Drill Doctor DD350X Drill Bit Sharpener.

I am a small, one man (plus kids) manufacturing business. We're very drill bit intensive. I have a couple of other sharpeners that sorta got the job done, at least let us keep drilling, but they miscut the angles and the chisel point grew over the sharpenings.

I first learned of the Dr. Doc many years ago, but never ordered it. With a large order to process, and the sharpeners I had were inadequate, I finally broke down and bought the DD.

I should have purchased this 8 or 9 years ago when I first learned of it.

1/2" bits that were mishappened, cut too shallow and dreadfully dull took only minutes to restore to like new. Comparing the sharpened bits to brand new show that the angles, are as a new bit, the chisel (my biggest failing point) were formed and sized correctly.

The learning curve, for me, having read the manual before the machine arrived, was on the order of five minutes. Setup and operation are very simple and once mastered setup takes about 30 seconds. The estimates of the number of twists seems to be dead on, even with badly worn bits.

There are at least three machines in the lineup, the 350 is the least and serves me purposes extremely well. I'm very impressed.

5 out of 5 stars Good tool Fair price   April 22, 2008

This is a simple to use tool, with easy to understand instructions. Probably written by someone who speaks and writes English as a first language. My drill bits were in fairly good shape, so it took only seconds to sharpen each bit to precision. This is a must have tool. I only wish they would come out with one that sharpens spade bits.

If you do handy man stuff, this thing can stop a one hour job from turning into a half day trip to the store. Well worth the money.

5 out of 5 stars Does what it says..   February 8, 2008

The 350X works well. It gives your drill bits that edge to dig into the metal after you sharpen them.

I will be getting a lefty sharpener because sharpened bits would rock on the lefty's.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent results on the first try.   January 27, 2008
YanMan
I read some of the other reviews here about the learning curve. So before I even plugged my Drill Dr. in, I watched the 5-10 minute DVD that came with it (I suggest you review the alignment steps a couple of times). I then walked out into the garage and sharpened a standard bit on the first try with perfect results. Feeling encouraged, I whipped out a masonry bit and sharpened it on the first try too.

Fifty bucks buys a lot of drill bits, but I hate having to run to the hardware store in the middle of a project (and my wife really hates it when I nag her to go for me). This little tool has a permanent home in my shop.
