Product Description Premium, battery powered backup sump pump system. The RH1400 has features not found in most other back up sump pumps. Since auxiliary back-up sump pumps are nearly always at rest, being in or near the water makes them subject to clogging, corrosion, and deterioration. HYDROPUMP RH1400 is different. It is mounted on the floor next to the sump keeping it dry, clean, and ready to go at all times. In addition to this, we include all the parts we believe you need to install your pump, right down to the last little item. If it isn't in the box, you probably don't need it unless you have a very unusual situation. Even then, our Customer Service Department will try to help if you call. The only extra item you will need to buy is the battery. And we sell those separately, too! You will need some thread sealing tape, PVC Cement, and a few plumbing tools.

good July 19, 2008 Keith OH/MI I think that this pump design is better than the others that connect in the discharge line. I did not have enough space in my pit for that kind. So this pump does a good job of pumping out my sump pit. The instructions were not that good but it was pretty easy to install. One thing that I did not realize until after I already had all of my pipes glued up was that the battery case needs to be attached to the pump to keep the pump from moving. I put the pump on the back side of my pit along the wall and after I had everything glued up there was no room to move the pump to attach it to the case. However, I ran the pump several times and it did not move so I think that this will not be a problem. I had read other reviews about this pump having some leakage. However, within about 1 minute of running my pump for the first time, the floor around the pump was all wet. It should not cause a problem because the pump base appears to be stainless steel and it will continue to be primed every time the main sump runs but it just does not look that good. Someday I will try to get a piece of stainless bent up to slip under the pump so that the water runs directly back into the pit instead of on the floor first. I would have given it 5 stars if it did not make my floor all wet. I also bought the extra battery case and it was easy to install. I put in some inexpensive ($70 each) deep cycle marine batteries.
pretty good backup sump pump January 9, 2007 Bob Bookie (New Albany OH USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I looked at several and decide on the RH800 because I had limited space in my sump well. The only problem that I had was priming the foot-valve and pump without getting myself all wet. A release valve to prime or plunger up under the foot valve would solve this problem. I now have 2 AC power sump pumps and the RH800 working just fine.
